Teen Tuesday – Nick Picks Manga!

Voracious manga reader, Nick, was kind enough to share with Teen Tuesday his current fave five, listed below.

Bloody Monday by Ryo Ryumon, art by Kouji Megumi (Young Adult)

High school student Takagi is a genius hacker who goes by the name Falcon. Using his computer skills to clear his secret agent father from murder and protect his family, Takagi and his friends find themselves pitted against terrorists plotting to kill millions.  Previously uncatalogued, Volumes 1 through 6 are currently requestable on the library’s website. Put this new series on hold now!

Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto (Young Adult)

This long-running series about a struggling ninja-in-training and his quest to become the village champion has spawned a veritable cottage industry of toys, games and movies, not to mention the books, now at volume 58.  Currently, Naruto volume 57 is available for request on the library’s catalog.

Soul Eater by Atsushi Okubo (Adult)

Available in Whitney library’s Adult Graphic novel/Manga section, Soul Eater tells the saga of weapon meister Maka who wields her living sword to collect and devour tainted souls.  Volumes 1 through 9 are available now and you can request volumes 10 and 11 on the library’s catalog.

Witch Hunter 1-2 by Jung-Man Cho (Adult)

Tasha and his sidekick, Halloween, are witch hunters and among the best there is.  It is their job to destroy the witches before they take out the rest of the human population. Like comedy?  This two volume omnibus is on the shelves in the Adult section.  Check it out!

Durarara!! by Ryohgo Narita, Suzuhito Yasuda, Akiyo Satorigi(Adult)

A crazy quilt of characters make up this fantasy love story shelved in the Adult section.  Volumes 1, 2, and 3 are available now and requestable on the library’s catalog.
