Attention artistic teens: Create an original piece of artwork inspired by a book, and you could win great prizes! In honor of Teen Read Week (October 14-20), the Library as Incubator Project, along with their sponsors, is hosting an art contest called “It Came From a Book.” The contest began June 21 and ends on September 30, so there is still plenty of time to participate! Just send a digital photo of your painting, sculpture, drawing, or photograph to firstname.lastname@example.org. To be eligible, submissions must be received before midnight Central Standard Time (that’s 10 p.m. for us). Your email must say “TRW Art Contest” in the subject heading. You will also need to include your full name, the name of your library (WHITNEY!), and the author and title of the book that inspired your work.
Submissions will be displayed on the website of the Library as Incubator Project where viewers will be able to vote for their favorites. Winners will be announced during Teen Read Week, October 14-20. Winners can receive an Amazon gift card! Autographed books! Artwork! T-shirts! So, don’t delay and log onto http://www.libraryasincubatorproject.org/?p=5113 for complete details. Flyers are also posted in Whitney Library’s Teen Zone.
Comment and tell us what books inspire you to create, and don’t forget that our Teen Summer Reading Program Own the Night goes until Tuesday, July 31!
